On Monday, January 22, Crime Stoppers of Halton kicked off their 30th Anniversary with an Open House and Theme Launch at the Halton Region Centre.
This year Crime Stoppers of Halton has added to the theme – See something? Hear something? Say something? – which it adopted in January 2016 from the popular Homeland Security slogan in the United States. However, they have changed - Say something to - Know something? - and have included a call to action by adding – Contact Crime Stoppers – to the message.
The evening featured local supporters, community partners, politicians and representatives from Halton Regional Police Service. Jan Westcott, vice chair for the Board of Directors at Crime Stoppers of Halton, was the master of ceremonies for the evening. The program included words from:
Provincial Appointee of Police Services Board - Ingrid Hann
Crime Stoppers Coordinator - Detective Constable Jodi Richmond
Halton Regional Police Service - Chief Steve Tanner
Federal MP Oakville - John Oliver
Provincial MPP Burlington - Eleanor McMahon
Provincial MPP Oakville - Kevin Flynn
Vice President of Claims for Economical Insurance - Rocco Neglia
President, Oakville Chamber of Commerce - John Sawyer
The presentation included a cheque presentation from Rocco Neglia of Economical Insurance, pledging a commitment of $50,000 over 3 years in support of Halton Crime Stoppers.
